Skin concern · Laxity

Sagging skin and laxity.

That softening along the jaw, the loosening at the neck, the cheeks that sit a little lower than they did — it has a cause, and there's a treatment that addresses it directly. Not surgery, not needles — energy that reaches where creams can't.

What causes sagging skin

Skin is held firm by a deep network of collagen and elastin — the scaffolding that keeps it taut and lets it spring back. From the mid-twenties onward the body makes less of it each year, and by the forties and fifties the loss becomes visible. The scaffolding loosens, the deeper support layer slackens, and gravity does the rest.

It's not neglect and it's not ageing gone wrong — it's biology. The same process that gives you lines around your eyes is loosening the structure beneath your jaw, just more slowly and more deeply. Everyone goes through it; the only variable is when it starts to show.

Where it tends to show first

  • The jawline — a softening of what used to be a clean, defined edge, and the early appearance of jowls.
  • The neck — looser skin under the chin and down the front of the neck.
  • The cheeks and midface — a sense that everything sits slightly lower than it once did.
  • The brow — a heaviness or drop above the eyes.

Why creams can't fix this

Sagging is a structural problem — it happens well below the surface, in the deep support layer where firmness is built. A cream can hydrate the top layer and make skin look slightly smoother, and that's worth doing. But no cream reaches the layer where the scaffolding has loosened. You can't firm skin from the surface when the loss is happening underneath.

That's the gap between skincare and treatment: skincare maintains the surface, treatment reaches the structure. Both have a place, but they do different things.

How we treat it

HIFU and RF microneedling — the treatments that address the cause.

One reaches the deep support layer to lift; the other rebuilds collagen closer to the surface to firm. Many jawlines need both.

Why this treatment, specifically

Sagging is a structural problem, so the treatment has to reach the structure. HIFU delivers focused ultrasound energy to the SMAS layer — the deep support sheet that a surgical face lift physically tightens. That's the layer where firmness is built, and it's well below the surface. No cream reaches it, no facial reaches it, and no surface-level device reaches it. HIFU does because it's designed to: focused ultrasound passes harmlessly through the surface and concentrates its energy at a precise depth — the depth where the scaffolding actually lives.

Where the skin is also crepy or rough on top of the laxity, RF microneedling complements HIFU by rebuilding collagen closer to the surface. The two work at different depths, which is why combining them is genuine — not overlap. Anne will tell you honestly at consultation whether you need one or both.

What to expect

A free consultation first — Anne will look at your skin, assess how much laxity there is and where, and tell you honestly whether HIFU, RF microneedling or a combination is right for you. The treatment itself takes 30 to 60 minutes depending on the area: HIFU delivers focused ultrasound in precise points across the jawline, neck and cheeks. There's no downtime — you may look slightly flushed for an hour or two, and you carry on with your day.

Results aren't instant. HIFU triggers new collagen, which builds over the following two to three months. You'll see the change gradually — your face looking fresher, the jawline a little cleaner, the neck a little firmer. A single session is often enough; some people benefit from a second at six months.

An honest word on what's achievable

HIFU lifts and firms skin with mild to moderate laxity very effectively — and where it suits you, the change is gradual and natural, unmistakably your own face just looking fresher. If skin is very loose or significantly excess, HIFU may not be the right tool, and Anne will tell you that plainly rather than promise a result she can't deliver. That honesty is the point of starting with a conversation.

Common questions

What gets rid of sagging skin?

HIFU stimulates your own collagen deep within the skin, tightening and lifting over two to three months. For skin texture alongside laxity, RF microneedling can complement it.

What causes sagging skin?

From the mid-twenties onward the body makes less collagen and elastin each year. By the forties and fifties the loss becomes visible, the deeper support layer slackens, and gravity does the rest.

Can creams fix sagging skin?

No. Creams sit on the surface and cannot reach the deep support layer where firmness is built. To change firmness you need to reach that layer — which is what HIFU does.

How long do HIFU results take?

Results build gradually over two to three months as new collagen forms. The treatment itself takes about 30 to 60 minutes with no downtime.
