Both are caused by the same underlying process: the structures that once kept the skin smooth and supported — fat pads, collagen, bone — have thinned and shifted, so the skin now folds where it used to lie flat. Gravity does the rest.
These are static lines — they're there when your face is still. Creams can hydrate the surface and make the skin look slightly smoother, but the line is there because the skin is folding into a groove where support has been lost underneath. No cream replaces that support. The line won't go away from the surface in — it has to be addressed from underneath.

Deeper lines are a support problem, so the treatment has to work underneath the skin. Dermal fillers do this directly: a hyaluronic acid gel is placed along the fold or line, gently lifting the skin and smoothing the crease from beneath. It replaces the volume and structure that age has taken, and the line softens because the skin is supported again.
This is different from anti-wrinkle treatment, which relaxes the muscles that create expression lines. Deeper lines are mostly about lost support, not muscle action — though marionette lines can have a muscle component, and anti-wrinkle can sometimes help there.
