Non-surgical facelift in Basingstoke — what it costs, what to expect, and when surgery is the honest answer

By the LUMOS Clinic team · LUMOS Clinic, Basingstoke  |  6 minute read

The phrase “non-surgical facelift” gets used loosely, and that’s the first thing to understand. Some clinics call almost anything a facelift. At LUMOS, I use it for one specific thing: HIFU that reaches the deep structural layer of the face — the same layer a surgeon tightens during an actual facelift — to lift and firm without surgery. This page is about what that genuinely does, what it costs in Basingstoke, and the honest limits.

What a non-surgical facelift actually is

HIFU (high-intensity focused ultrasound) delivers focused energy to the SMAS layer — the deepest supportive layer of the face, and the one a surgeon manipulates in a surgical facelift. The ultrasound triggers a natural collagen response at that depth. Over the weeks that follow, your skin produces fresh collagen, lifting and firming gradually and naturally.

At LUMOS, I use medical-grade technology from Lynton — the same systems trusted by NHS clinics across the UK. Each treatment is tailored to your face, targeting the specific areas where you want lifting and firming: the jawline, neck, cheeks, brow and midface.

What it can do — and can’t

What it lifts: a softening jawline and early jowls, loose skin under the chin and neck, drooping brows, and cheeks that have lost their lift. This is the treatment’s home ground — mild to moderate laxity where the skin is still there, just loosened by time.

What it can’t do: replicate the dramatic result of a surgical facelift on significantly loose skin. If there’s a lot of excess skin, no energy-based treatment will retract it to surgery’s standard — and I’ll tell you that honestly at consultation rather than sell you something that won’t deliver. That honesty is the point of starting with a conversation.

How it compares to surgery

A surgical facelift reaches the SMAS layer through an incision, giving an immediate and more dramatic result — at the cost of downtime, scarring, anaesthetic and surgical risk. A non-surgical facelift reaches the same layer through the skin. The results are gradual over weeks rather than instant, but there’s no downtime, no scarring and no surgical risk.

The honest way to think about it: if you want a visible lift with no recovery and a natural result, HIFU is a strong choice for mild-to-moderate laxity. If you have significant excess skin, surgery is the only route that will give a meaningful result — and I’ll say so rather than take your money for a change I can’t deliver.

What it costs in Basingstoke — honest numbers

A non-surgical facelift at LUMOS starts from £225 per area, with the price depending on which areas you treat (jawline, neck, cheeks, brow). The right plan — how many areas and how many sessions — is individual, and Anne sets out a clear, realistic recommendation at consultation. Full details are on the non-surgical facelift treatment page.

Two honest notes on price. First, a one-off single area rarely tells the full story — most people treat the areas that matter to them, so the real cost is confirmed at consultation. Second, beware any clinic quoting a flat “facelift package” without examining your face — the right plan depends on where your laxity actually is.

What a session involves

A session takes around 45–90 minutes depending on the areas treated. You’ll feel a brief warmth with each pulse — most people find it very manageable without numbing. There’s no downtime; you can return to your day immediately.

Results build gradually over 8–12 weeks as new collagen forms, continuing to improve for up to six months. It’s not an overnight change — it’s your own skin tightening naturally, which is exactly why the result looks like you, just fresher and more defined.

When it’s not the right answer

  • Significantly loose skin — where skin has drifted past what HIFU can firm, a surgical opinion is the honest route.
  • Expecting a dramatic, instant result — this is a gradual, natural lift, not a transformation.
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding — we don’t treat during this time.

If you book a consultation and I think you need something different — or nothing at all — I’ll tell you. The treatment room isn’t a sales floor.

Common questions

Is a non-surgical facelift as good as surgery?

For mild to moderate laxity, it delivers a natural lift with no downtime. It will not replicate the dramatic result of surgery on significantly loose skin. The honest answer depends on how much excess skin there is — assessed at consultation.

How long does it last?

Results typically last around 12 months. An annual top-up maintains the lift, and many people find each treatment builds on the last.

Does it hurt?

Most people find it very manageable — a brief warmth with each pulse, no anaesthetic needed. Anne will make sure you're comfortable throughout.

How much does it cost?

From £225 per area at LUMOS. The right plan is confirmed at your free consultation.

How long until I see results?

Results build over 8–12 weeks as collagen forms, improving for up to six months. It's your own skin tightening naturally — not an overnight change.
