A session takes around 30 minutes for a typical area. You’ll feel a warm snap with each pulse of light — quick and manageable. After the session, treated hair sheds over the following days; you can carry on with your day straight away, just avoiding sun exposure on the treated area.
Because hair grows in cycles, one session is never enough. A course — typically six to eight sessions, spaced a few weeks apart — is what gives the long-lasting removal people come for. Anne will set out a realistic course plan at consultation.
Laser Hair removal works best on lighter skin tones with darker hair — the light needs pigment contrast to target the follicle. Grey, white, red or very light hair won’t respond well, and very dark skin tones carry a higher risk, so an honest assessment comes first. Anne will tell you plainly whether Laser Hair removal will work for your hair and skin — and suggest what will if it isn’t the right fit.
Laser hair removal is one of the best-evidenced treatments we offer. A large 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis of long-term studies confirmed significant, lasting hair reduction with alexandrite and diode lasers after multiple sessions, with response varying by hair and skin colouring — dark hair on lighter skin responds most, fine or light hair least. Studies consistently report roughly 70–90% long-term reduction after a full course, with occasional maintenance sessions. What the research is honest about: it's reduction, not permanent removal — some follicles recover over years — and hormonal conditions can drive regrowth that needs top-ups.
A warm snap with each pulse — most people find it very manageable, and smaller areas are quick.
Typically six to eight, spaced a few weeks apart, to catch hairs in their active growth phase. The result is long-lasting removal, not a one-off.
Long-lasting removal rather than guaranteed permanent reduction. Most clients see a major improvement that lasts, with occasional top-ups for stray regrowth.
Yes — shaving is fine. Avoid plucking or waxing between sessions, because the follicle needs to be intact for the light to target it.
