FAQ

Questions, answered honestly.

The things people ask us most — about consultations, cost, what treatments feel like, and what we won’t do. If yours isn’t here, just ask at consultation.

Do you charge for consultations?

No — consultations at LUMOS are always free and without obligation. Unlike many clinics, we don’t charge for your first assessment. We look at your skin honestly, talk about what you want to change, and tell you what is realistically achievable — and what is not.

How much do treatments cost?

HIFU from £225, RF microneedling from £295, IPL from £95. Injectables vary: anti-wrinkle from £140 an area, skin boosters from £275, fillers and lip enhancement from £210. Consultations are always free.

Is LUMOS Clinic one clinic or two?

One clinic with two areas of expertise. Anne leads non-surgical skin treatments (HIFU, RF microneedling, IPL). Georgie, an independent nurse prescriber, leads the injectables side — anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, lip enhancement, skin boosters and polynucleotides. Both work from the same clinic at The Coach House, Dummer.

Does HIFU hurt? What does RF microneedling feel like?

HIFU is relaxing — most people find it comfortable, no anaesthetic is needed. RF microneedling feels like a warm prickling sensation; a mild anaesthetic cream is applied 15 minutes before, so it is not painful.

How many sessions will I need?

HIFU is typically 1–3 sessions depending on the degree of laxity, with results lasting around a year and an annual top-up. RF microneedling is a course of 3, 4–6 weeks apart; deeper acne scarring sometimes needs a 4th session.

Is there any downtime?

HIFU has no real downtime — you can go about your day afterwards. After RF microneedling the skin is pink and warm for 2–3 hours and settles the same day; medical-grade tinted SPF30 is applied after 8 hours, and make-up can be worn the next day.

Which device do you use for skin treatments?

Anne uses the Focus Dual by Lynton — one machine that delivers both HIFU and RF microneedling. Lynton’s technology is used in clinical settings across the UK, including NHS dermatology referrals in some areas.

Can HIFU and RF microneedling be combined?

Yes — combining them is often exceptional for mild to moderate laxity: HIFU lifts from the deeper layer while RF microneedling refines the surface. We will recommend what your skin actually needs at consultation.

What can you not treat?

Honestly: very heavy laxity is beyond what non-surgical treatments can do and surgery would be the realistic route — we will tell you that rather than take your money. Pigmentation and thread veins need IPL, not HIFU or RF. Active acne should be managed before treating scarring. We do not treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

How do I book?

Book online through Phorest, or call the clinic on 01256 397081. Online booking covers both areas of expertise.
